On November 26, 2012, Sherman William Miller, age 21, was fatally shot while attending a funeral at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago. The funeral was for James Holman, a reputed gang member, and the gathering had drawn a large crowd of around 500 people.
