In the quiet town of Walton, Kentucky, a tragedy unfolded that cut short the life of Tiffany Lynn Kidwell, a 32-year-old woman, on Friday, October 2, 2020. A loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Zayne and Ezekiel, Tiffany was known as a vibrant part of her community. She had a past filled with cheerleading for Ludlow High School Allstars and the local youth football league, a passion she later channeled into coaching. At the time of her death, she was the Collection Manager at Zwicker & Associates in Hebron.
The circumstances of her death were violent and harrowing. Tiffany was fatally shot while sitting in a car with her two sons in a driveway on Winchester Drive. The attack also left her three-year-old son wounded by a gunshot to the stomach, though he was expected to survive. The incident was the culmination of a history of domestic violence that Tiffany had sought to escape.
The man charged in the triple shooting was John Gentry, the father of her children. In the months leading up to the fatal shooting, Tiffany had taken legal steps to protect herself, obtaining an emergency protective order against Gentry. However, court documents revealed he had repeatedly violated this order. In one instance, he confronted her outside her workplace, and in another, he attacked her in her car.
Following the shooting that claimed Tiffany's life and injured their son, Gentry also shot a man named Lawrence Ward while attempting to steal his car to flee the scene. Ward survived the attack. Gentry was arrested, and a judge set his bond at one million dollars. He had a history of domestic violence charges in the months prior to the incident and other court records dating back to 2010.
