In the early hours of January 24, 2021, the life of 32-year-old Dashanell Vashon James, a Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. Known to some as 'DayDayG,' he found himself in the Buechel neighborhood where an altercation escalated to a fatal conclusion. Louisville Metro Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area and, upon their arrival, discovered James suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of first responders, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
