In the spring of 2021, the life of Jessica Abernathy-Jones, a 31-year-old Black female from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On May 24th, she was found deceased in her residence at 2301 Terrier Court, the victim of a fatal shooting. The discovery of her body prompted an outpouring of grief from her family and friends, who remembered her as a loving mother.
In the days following the discovery, questions and concerns arose regarding the circumstances leading up to her death.
Family members and neighbors voiced their distress, alleging that their calls for a welfare check on Jessica had not been promptly addressed by authorities. This added a layer of anguish to an already devastating loss, as her loved ones grappled with the thought that her death might have been preventable.
