In the bright light of a Friday noon, chaos erupted outside a busy Driver Licensing Regional Office on Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky, forever altering the lives of many. It was February 21, 2025, when 33-year-old African American woman Antwanette Chillers was fatally wounded in a sudden burst of gunfire. The area, typically bustling with people waiting for services, became a scene of terror and confusion.
Antwanette was one of three individuals struck by bullets in the attack.
When Louisville Metro Police Department officers arrived, they discovered a harrowing scene. One young man, 18-year-old Leslye Harbin Jr., was pronounced dead at the location. Antwanette and another woman, 29-year-old Raysa Pacios Valdes, were found with critical injuries. Both women were rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, but tragically, neither survived their wounds. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed the identities of all three victims.
