In the early hours of a summer Sunday in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 23-year-old Andre Deon Payne, Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short. On June 6, 2021, gunshots shattered the night outside Cole's Place, a nightclub located in the 2900 block of West Kentucky Street.
