In the early evening of June 20, 2021, a young Black man named De’Andre’ Le’Vell Colbert’s life was cut tragically short. The 22-year-old was at the Southland Terrace Shopping Center in Louisville, Kentucky, near the CVS pharmacy on Seventh Street Road, when gunfire erupted around 7:45 p.m. Responding to the call, Louisville Metro Police found Colbert at the scene, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite any medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the shopping center.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of De'Andre Colbert's death was the gunshot wounds he sustained in the attack. In the days that followed his death, family and friends mourned the loss of a young life taken so suddenly and violently.
