In the early hours of an autumn Tuesday in Lexington, Kentucky, the life of 23-year-old Jayontai McCann was tragically cut short. On October 5, 2021, police responded to a call of an assault at the Liberty Heights Apartments on Liberty Road. Behind one of the apartment buildings, they found McCann suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, but his injuries were too severe.
