In the autumn of 2021, a domestic disturbance in Madisonville, Kentucky, escalated into a fatal incident that claimed the life of 61-year-old Benigno I Feliciano. On the afternoon of Sunday, October 24th, police were dispatched to a residence on South Harrig Street following a report that a man had been shot by his wife. Upon arrival, authorities found Feliciano suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported Feliciano to a hospital outside of the state for
treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing surgery. The investigation into the shooting led to the immediate arrest of his wife, 54-year-old Ravan Hamlett.
Initially, Hamlett was charged with first-degree assault. However, following Feliciano's death, it was anticipated that the charges would be amended to reflect the fatal outcome of the incident. Reports from law enforcement indicated that Hamlett claimed to have heard voices instructing her to shoot her husband. The case then moved forward through the legal system to address the tragic death of Benigno Feliciano.
