A bright smile that could illuminate any room he entered and a heart of gold defined 22-year-old D’Anthony D. English. A loving son, grandson, brother, and friend, his family was the center of his world. He cherished spending time with them, sharing his passions for sports, music, and especially his favorite football team, the New England Patriots.
Tragically, on the afternoon of March 9, 2022, the vibrant life of this young Black man was cut short.
In the Shawnee neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, a burst of gunfire erupted at Shorty's Food Mart on West Broadway. When the violence subsided, D’Anthony lay dead at the scene, a victim of a fatal gunshot wound. The shooting, which occurred just after 4:30 p.m., also left another individual wounded. That person was discovered a few blocks away on Sutcliffe Avenue and was transported to a local hospital, alert and conscious at the time.
In the immediate aftermath, the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the double shooting. However, law enforcement officials reported that they had not identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests were made. The community was left grappling with the sudden loss of a young man known for his warmth and affection.
As of late 2025, there have been no publicly available updates regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murder of D’Anthony D. English. The case is one of many unsolved homicides that continue to trouble the city of Louisville. D'Anthony's family and friends were left to mourn a life taken too soon, remembering him as a 'daddy's boy to the fullest' who will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
