Lexus Chantell Wilson, a 23-year-old White female from Leitchfield, Kentucky, was found dead in her home on June 29, 2022. Her life was ended by an act of violence that was initially disguised as a suicide.
That afternoon, Grayson County dispatch received a call reporting a suicide at a residence on Decker School Road. When first responders from the sheriff’s office and EMS arrived, they found Lexus deceased from a single gunshot wound.
However, investigators at the scene soon suspected foul play was involved. The Grayson County Coroner, during a post-mortem examination at the home, noticed suspicious blood spatter evidence on Lexus and on her husband, Orbay Wilson. This discovery, along with other unusual circumstances, shifted the focus of the case from a suicide to a homicide.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Kentucky State Police. Detectives questioned Orbay Wilson, then 28, at the Leitchfield Police Department. During the interview, he confessed to shooting his wife while she was sleeping. According to court documents, he admitted to placing the gun by her head after the shooting and then calling 911 to report her death. He was arrested and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
In August 2022, a grand jury indicted Orbay Wilson on the initial charges. As the investigation continued, more charges were added. A superseding indictment in February 2023 included two counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of incest, and multiple charges related to producing and possessing child sexual abuse material. The indictment stated these crimes, involving a victim under the age of 12, took place in the days leading up to Lexus's murder.
On March 21, 2023, Orbay Wilson accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to all charges against him, including murder (domestic violence), tampering with physical evidence, and the multiple child sex crimes.
In June 2023, he was formally sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife. The sentences for his other crimes will run concurrently. Under the terms of his sentence, he will be eligible for parole after serving 20 years. If released, he will be subject to five years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
