Twenty-two-year-old Shannon Engle, a white female from London, Kentucky, was killed on July 4, 2015. The incident that led to her untimely death unfolded at a residence on Hickory Road, located about five miles outside the city of London.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene late that Saturday night, they discovered Engle in a bedroom, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation into the shooting quickly focused on Engle's boyfriend, 29-year-old Christopher Byrd. It was determined that the couple had been involved in a dispute that escalated to a fatal confrontation.
