In the early evening of September 12, 2022, emergency services responded to a call in the 500 block of West Sixth Street in Lexington, Kentucky, where they found 22-year-old Doricky Juran Harris Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries. The initial police response treated the case as a homicide, launching an investigation into the circumstances that led to the young man's death at the Coolavin Apartments.
