Larry Dwayne Davis, Sr., a 35-year-old father of six, was tragically killed on May 25, 2015, in a shooting incident in north Minneapolis. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on the 2700 block of Third Street North, just off Interstate 94. Davis was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, as confirmed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
The shooting also left two other men injured, one of whom arrived at Hennepin County Medical Center later with critical injuries.
Davis was on supervised release after serving time for a 2001 murder, where he had pleaded guilty to killing Patrick Timberlake. On the day of his death, police responded to a call about a fight, which escalated to reports of a person with a gun and eventually a shooting. Despite the chaotic scene and multiple calls, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. The police have not released any concrete information regarding suspects or their descriptions.
Larry Davis, Sr. was engaged to his girlfriend of nine years and was described by his family as a loving father and a great man. His 15-year-old son, Larrion Davis, witnessed the aftermath of the shooting, expressing his grief and admiration for his father. The Minneapolis Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation.
