In the early evening of a Tuesday in November 2015, tragedy struck in Minneapolis, forever altering the lives of a local family. Cortney Elvester Woods, a 22-year-old Black / African American man, was found with a gunshot wound to the head on the 3900 block of Emerson Avenue North at approximately 5:30 p.m. The young man was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he fought for his life for nearly a day.
