He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Eugene Watkins, and is survived by his children, Gytessa Martin, Jerome Watkins, Lamarcus Baker, Erin Burns, Tre Koonts, Whitney Burns, Albert Burns, and Ebony Burns, along with 14 grandchildren.
