On a spring afternoon in Saint Paul, Minnesota, a burst of violence shattered the day, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Micheal Valentino Parrish, a 20-year-old Black male from Minneapolis, was fatally shot on April 18, 2020. The incident unfolded around noon on the 1400 block of Minnehaha Avenue East, a normally busy area that became the scene of a homicide investigation.
According to witness accounts, the sound of at least a dozen gunshots rang out near a Holiday gas
station. In the immediate aftermath, Parrish and another individual were seen fleeing the area in a red van. The escape was short-lived, however, as police officers, responding to 911 calls, located the vehicle approximately two miles away at the intersection of Bush Avenue and Bradley Street. They were reportedly en route to a hospital when the van was stopped.
Inside the van, officers discovered Parrish, who had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man in the vehicle had sustained a gunshot wound to his arm. His injuries were described as not life-threatening, and he was transported to Regions Hospital for medical attention.
