On a summer afternoon in Minneapolis on August 26, 2020, the life of Eddie George Gordon, a 61-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. The incident that led to his death unfolded within the concrete confines of the MTC Transit Station Ramp A, where a heated argument broke out between Gordon, another man, and a woman. The dispute escalated with shocking suddenness when the other man, later identified as 38-year-old Eddie Frank Sole Jr., drew a gun and fired, striking Gordon in the head and
neck. Sole and the woman fled the scene, leaving Gordon fatally wounded.
Minneapolis police were called to the parking ramp at approximately 2:10 p.m. and found Gordon deceased. While authorities quickly located and detained the woman for questioning, Sole remained at large for several hours. The investigation revealed that both Gordon and Sole had connections to the nearby Salvation Army's Harbor Light Center, a homeless shelter. Gordon had occasionally stayed at the shelter, while Sole had been a resident for the preceding two and a half years.
