On a tragic autumn evening in Apple Valley, Minnesota, the life of 52-year-old Faye Elizabeth Brown, a White female, was cut short in an act of violence that also claimed the life of her neighbor. The incident unfolded on November 4, 2020, at the Morningview Condominiums on 157th Street West, where Brown resided.
That evening, multiple 911 calls reported a man with a gun in the hallway of the condominium complex and the sound of gunshots.
When police arrived at approximately 8:40 p.m., they discovered a man in the hallway with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Inside her own unit, officers found Faye Elizabeth Brown deceased. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner later confirmed that she had died from a gunshot wound to the torso.
The investigation led police to a second-floor apartment belonging to one of Brown's neighbors. Believing this resident to be the shooter, a SWAT team was called to the scene. After obtaining a search warrant and entering the apartment, they found the man deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities later identified the suspected shooter as 51-year-old Raymond Rosenbaum. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed his cause of death as a suicide from a gunshot wound to the head. Police believe that Rosenbaum shot Brown and the other man before taking his own life. While the motive for the shooting has not been released, law enforcement officials have stated that they are not seeking any other suspects and that there is no further threat to the community. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder-suicide is ongoing. No arrests were made due to the death of the sole suspect.
