On December 12, 2022, 27-year-old Abdi Omar Abukar was found with gunshot wounds in the driver's seat of a vehicle on the 500 block of Knox Avenue North in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation around 10 p.m. and discovered Abukar unconscious and suffering from his injuries. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene and subsequent hospitalization at Hennepin County Medical Center Abukar succumbed to his injuries on December 15, 2022.
