In the early hours of April 9, 2005, a domestic disturbance call in a quiet Newton, Kansas neighborhood escalated into a tense hostage situation that would ultimately claim the life of a dedicated law enforcement officer. Kurt Andrew Ford, a 38-year-old White / Caucasian male and a respected deputy with the Harvey County Sheriff's Office, was fatally wounded while attempting to protect a woman from her armed partner.
