In the late summer of 2016, the life of a young Black/African American woman named Camrah Trotter was tragically cut short. At 20 years old, she was eagerly awaiting the birth of her daughter, whom she had already named Ariyah. On August 7, 2016, in her apartment at the Fairlawn Green Apartments in Topeka, Kansas, a horrific sequence of events unfolded. Trotter's boyfriend, 23-year-old Dominique Ray, was fatally shot.
