In the early morning hours of November 5, 2017, the life of 25-year-old Antoinne Jones, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Kansas City, Kansas. Police responded to a call at approximately 4:30 a.m. and discovered Jones's body in the street near 21st Street and Rowland Avenue. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Family members, reeling from the sudden and violent loss, described Antoinne as a sweet-hearted young man and a loving father to his
three-year-old son. His aunt remembered him as a "jokester" who was always smiling and could keep those around him happy. The family expressed their devastation and shock, grappling with the senseless violence that took him from them. His death marked the 32nd homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, that year.
In the wake of the shooting, the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Jones's death.
