In November of 2017, the life of a promising young man, Hasan Rahman, was tragically cut short in Wichita, Kansas. The 26-year-old male, a mechanical engineering student from Bangladesh, was also working as a pizza delivery driver to support himself. Known for his kindness and dedication, he was a volunteer in his community. On the evening of Saturday, November 25, 2017, Hasan went out on his delivery route for Pizza Hut but never returned to the restaurant. His colleagues grew concerned when he failed to check in, prompting them to search the area of his last known deliveries. There, they discovered some of Pizza Hut's property, which led them to contact the authorities.
The search for Hasan ended in heartbreak the following morning, Sunday, November 26, 2017. Police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle and discovered Hasan's body in the trunk of his own car. He had been fatally shot. The investigation revealed that Hasan was likely attacked after completing his last deliveries on North Williamsburg. His car was then moved approximately three miles away to East Pagent, where it was later found. Investigators stated that there was no initial indication of a robbery, making the motive behind the violent act unclear. The killing was described by police as unusual and not typical of robberies targeting delivery drivers.
Despite a thorough investigation, no suspects have ever been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with Hasan Rahman's murder. The case eventually went cold, leaving his family and friends without answers. In the course of their investigation, police looked into a possible connection between Hasan's death and a double homicide that occurred just three blocks away on the same weekend. A mother and her son, Huong Pham and Cody Ha, were also found shot to death. While investigators have considered the theory that the cases might be related, no definitive evidence has been presented to the public to confirm this link. Pizza Hut offered a $10,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest, but the case remains unsolved.
