On the evening of December 20, 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm of a Leawood, Kansas, apartment complex parking lot, forever altering the lives of a Kansas City family. Twenty-four-year-old Zachary Morrisey, a male, was sitting in a car at the Leawood State Line Apartments near 138th Street and Kenneth Road when an unknown individual approached the vehicle and opened fire.
