In the early morning hours of May 7, 2020, the city of Junction City, Kansas, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the lives of two young men. Nineteen-year-old Aaron Villarreal, a male resident of the town, was fatally shot in what was determined to be a double homicide. The incident unfolded shortly before 2 a.m. when officers from the Junction City Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of West 11th Street following reports of gunfire.
