On a Friday evening in Kansas City, Kansas, on September 4, 2020, a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving two men fatally wounded. The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in an alley in the 1800 block of North 31st Street. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered 56-year-old Raymond McElroy, a Black male, who had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

A second victim, 28-year-old Jose Flores-Portillo, was found nearby with critical gunshot wounds. ...
