In the quiet community of Leavenworth, Kansas, a devastating event unfolded on October 24, 2020, forever altering the lives of a local family. Logan Windham Jackson, a White 14-year-old male, and his younger brother, 12-year-old Austin Jackson, were found deceased inside their home. The grim discovery was made after family members grew concerned when one of the boys failed to show up for a scheduled soccer game that day.
Upon their arrival at the residence, they found both Logan and Austin had been fatally shot.
At the time of the discovery, the boys' father, Donald Ray Jackson Jr., then 40, was not at the home, and the boys' two younger sisters, ages 3 and 7, were also missing. This alarming situation prompted law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert, fearing for the safety of the two young girls. A search for the father and his daughters ensued, stretching across state lines. Later that same evening, the search came to a dramatic conclusion when Donald Jackson Jr. was located and apprehended during a traffic stop near Erick, Oklahoma, approximately 500 miles southwest of Leavenworth. Investigators found three. 40-caliber shell casings at the crime scene, and a. 40-caliber handgun was later recovered from Jackson's vehicle at the time of his arrest.
