In the early morning hours of October 27, 2021, a 911 call shattered the quiet of Hoisington, Kansas. First responders rushed to a residence on East 2nd Street, where they found 22-year-old Chase Anderson, a Caucasian male, with a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Hoisington Police Department with the case. Their initial investigation revealed that Anderson had been shot in the chest with a handgun. Also present at the residence during the shooting was a 32-year-old acquaintance of Anderson's, Adam M. Sullivan.
While Sullivan was not immediately charged in connection with Anderson's death, he was arrested later that morning on charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The investigation into the shooting continued, and on November 3, 2021, while already in custody at the Barton County Jail, Adam M. Sullivan was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Chase Anderson.
