In the summer of 2022, the life of Kirk Mychale Sexton, a 34-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. On the evening of Saturday, July 16th, police were called to the 900 block of SW 8th Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Sexton suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
