On January 29, 1919, the body of Dr. Theodore Ting Wong was discovered in Washington, D.C. Wong, along with his colleagues Chang Hsi Hsie and Ben Sen Wu, were found murdered in their residence. Wong's body was the first to be discovered by one of his students who entered the house after receiving no response for several days.
