Bernis Carr, Jr., a 31-year-old officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, was tragically killed on February 16, 1978. Officer Carr, who had served for 11 years, was off duty and seated at the bar of Jimi's Lounge at 4801 Georgia Avenue NW when four armed suspects entered the establishment.
