On a Sunday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 35-year-old Juan Nelson Roberts, a male resident of Northeast, was cut short by gunfire. The fatal encounter occurred on November 5, 2017, at approximately 6:10 p.m. in the Petworth neighborhood, specifically in the 900 block of Shepherd Street NW.
Responding to reports of gunshots in the area, officers from the Fourth District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene to find Roberts unconscious and unresponsive.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were also present and, after assessing his condition, found no signs of life. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch launched an investigation into the shooting, classifying it as a homicide. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the case remains unsolved. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the death of Juan Nelson Roberts.
