In the very streets he was working to heal, Clarence Sadiq Venable, a 40-year-old man, was tragically killed. On the afternoon of Friday, November 22, 2019, Venable was shot to death in Southeast Washington, D.C. The irony of his death was profound, as he was a dedicated violence interrupter, a community leader actively training to mediate conflicts and put an end to the cycle of gang violence that plagued his city.
