In the early evening of August 7, 2020, Rashad Scott, a 30-year-old Black man from Washington, D.C., was fatally shot in the Le Droit Park neighborhood of Northwest Washington. The incident occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m. in the 1900 block of 6th Street, NW. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Third District arrived at the scene, they discovered Scott suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services responded and transported Scott to a local
hospital in a life-threatening condition. Despite all life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into his death.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and detailed descriptions of any suspect or suspects have not been publicly released. The Metropolitan Police Department is actively seeking assistance from the public and has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Rashad Scott's death. The investigation remains ongoing.
