On a Valentine's Day evening in Washington, D.C., 18-year-old Cierra Young was looking forward to a night out with a friend. She left her District Heights, Maryland, home around 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2021, after being picked up by a male friend for dinner. Less than an hour later, a night that should have been filled with youthful enjoyment turned into a tragedy. While she was a passenger in a vehicle, shots were fired into the car, striking the young woman.
