In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., violence erupted that would tragically cut short the life of a 30-year-old male resident. On April 20, 2021, at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the Unit Block of Franklin Street, Northeast, following a call to investigate trouble in the area.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.
Partially inside a vehicle, they found Brandon Christopher Long, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were quickly on the scene and transported Long to a nearby hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Brandon Long succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the following day, on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the case, which has been classified as a homicide. The department is seeking assistance from the public to bring those responsible to justice and is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in Long's death. As of now, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with this fatal shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to this violent end to a young man's life.
