On a summer evening in Washington, D.C., a man's life was tragically cut short by gun violence. Dimaris Dimetrice Smith, a 42-year-old Black/African American male also known as 'D,' was in the 1300 block of 46th Street, SE, on June 16, 2022, when the sound of gunshots pierced the air at approximately 9:41 PM. When police arrived at the scene, they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.
