In the late hours of a Friday evening in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck the community. On October 1, 2021, at approximately 11:15 pm, the sound of gunshots pierced the night in the unit block of Forrester Street, Southwest. When officers from the Seventh District arrived at the scene, they discovered a chaotic and violent tableau. Six people had been shot.
Among the victims was 35-year-old Temika Johnson, of Southwest, D.C.
While emergency services transported the other five victims—an adult female and four adult males—to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, Ms. Johnson was found with no signs of life. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the incident that claimed the life of Temika Johnson and left several others wounded. The department has appealed to the public for any information regarding the shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide. As of now, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to seek answers in the violent death of Temika Johnson.
