On the night of July 22, 2024, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a Somerville, Massachusetts neighborhood, leaving a 49-year-old White / Caucasian man, Paul Nolan, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident, which marked the first homicide in the city since December 2022, unfolded at approximately 10:27 p.m. on Dartmouth Street. Neighbors reported hearing a series of loud noises, with some dismissing it as furniture moving or something heavy being dropped before realizing the
sounds were gunshots.
Responding to the reports, Somerville police discovered Nolan inside a third-floor apartment suffering from several gunshot wounds.
