On a Thursday evening in October 2009, a young life was tragically cut short in the Edgewood Terrace housing complex in Washington, D.C. Kenyetta Daiarra Nicholson-Stanley, a 17-year-old female, was outside in the 500 block of Edgewood Street, NE, at approximately 8:08 p.m. on October 8th. While she was chatting with a security guard, gunshots suddenly erupted.
According to police reports, masked gunmen opened fire in the area, and Kenyetta was caught in the crossfire.
She was wounded in the shooting and succumbed to her injuries the following day, on Friday, October 9, 2009. Her death left behind a trail of heartbroken family and friends who remembered her as a beautiful, bright, and precious daughter.
In the years since her death, the case has remained an unsolved homicide. The Metropolitan Police Department has continued to seek the public's assistance in gathering information regarding the incident. Despite their efforts and pleas for information, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Kenyetta Stanley, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation remains open.
