Zachary Freeling, a 26-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was found with a gunshot wound to the chest on October 18, 2021, at his home on Quincy Place Northeast. Initially, his death was classified as undetermined, but nearly three years later, the D.C. Medical Examiner ruled it a homicide following additional ballistics testing. Freeling, who was the last surviving member of his immediate family, had been working on launching a food truck business in D.C. at the time of his death.
