In the late morning of a summer day in Washington, D.C., a dispute over a pair of shoes escalated into a fatal encounter. On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, 30-year-old Israel Mattocks, a shoe reseller, was shot and killed in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.
