In the autumn of 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the early afternoon calm in the nation's capital, leaving four men wounded and one fighting for his life. The incident unfolded on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at approximately 1:07 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found four adult males conscious and breathing, all suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Among the injured was 21-year-old Christian Mitchell, a
resident of Northwest, D.C. He, along with the other three victims, was rushed to a local hospital for immediate medical attention. For two weeks, Mitchell clung to life, his condition critical. However, despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, October 21, 2022.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later conducted an autopsy and determined that a single gunshot wound was the cause of Mitchell's death, which was officially ruled a homicide. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the case.
To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the quadruple shooting that led to Christian Mitchell's death.
