In the afternoon of November 10, 2022, a 24-year-old Black man named Mykell Vicente, a resident of Southeast Washington, D.C., was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 1:33 p.m. in the 2900 block of Stanton Road, Southeast, an area near the old Barry Farm neighborhood. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District were dispatched to the location after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Vicente suffering from an apparent
gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but after assessing his condition, they found no signs of life. Vicente was pronounced dead at the location. His body was later taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the case. While the specific circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been publicly detailed by the police, they did state they were looking for two men who were seen running from the area, both of whom were reportedly wearing all-black clothing. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and no specific suspects have been named. The police have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Mykell Vicente's death. They have urged the public to come forward with any information they might have regarding the incident.
