In a quiet Las Vegas neighborhood, the morning of October 2, 2015, was shattered by a sudden act of violence that claimed the lives of 8-year-old White male Alexander Lex Denoso and his mother. The tragic events unfolded when a neighbor, armed with a handgun, fatally shot 39-year-old Jennifer Bagley at the doorway of her home on Hardtack Circle. In the midst of the chaos, Bagley's daughter managed to escape to a neighbor's house and call for help, while a toddler inside the home was later found
unharmed.
The gunman, identified by neighbors as 47-year-old Joe Frankulin, then abducted Alexander and took him to his own house just two doors away. As police officers arrived at the scene around 7 a.m., they attempted to make contact with Frankulin. Shortly after, at least one gunshot was heard from inside his residence. A SWAT team was deployed and, upon entering the home, discovered the bodies of both Alexander and Frankulin.
Investigators determined that Alexander had sustained more than one gunshot wound. Frankulin was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, with a handgun lying nearby. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide. While police indicated that there may have been previous disputes between Bagley and Frankulin, a definitive motive for the horrific actions of that day was not immediately clear to investigators, leaving a community to grapple with the senseless loss of a young boy and his mother.
