A simmering argument at a child's birthday party in Las Vegas escalated into a fatal shooting on the evening of October 17, 2015, claiming the life of 28-year-old Tony Munns. The celebration, held at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Kari Lee Court, took a tragic turn after a verbal confrontation spiraled out of control.
Responding to multiple reports of gunshots around 8:30 p.m., Las Vegas police officers arrived to a chaotic scene.
They discovered Munns near an apartment stairwell, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the days that followed the shooting, Metro detectives identified 23-year-old Mose Bennett as the primary suspect. An investigation revealed that angry words had been exchanged between Bennett and Munns during the party, leading to the deadly encounter. Bennett was arrested on the Wednesday following the incident and booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
Bennett faced charges of open murder and possession of a stolen firearm. He was held without bail. At the time of his arrest, police indicated that there might be at least one other suspect who had not yet been identified. The investigation continued as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the violent end of a birthday celebration.
