In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 14, 2016, a gathering of people in a casino parking lot in North Las Vegas turned deadly. DeAndre Orlandis Taylor, a 45-year-old Black man, was in the parking lot of the Silver Nugget casino on North Las Vegas Boulevard when gunfire erupted.
Around 4 a.m., North Las Vegas police responded to reports of the shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Taylor and another man, 41-year-old Delven Raspberry, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Tragically, medical personnel pronounced both men dead at the scene. The Clark County coroner's office later confirmed their identities.
Investigators believe a large group of people was present in the parking lot when a single suspect brandished a firearm and began shooting. Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene, and no immediate arrests were made. The North Las Vegas Police Department urged anyone with information to come forward as they continued their investigation into the double homicide.
