James H. Sheehy, a 35-year-old male police officer with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, tragically died on May 18, 1902. Officer Sheehy was shot and killed while escorting a prisoner to the station. He was providing backup to a fellow officer on Logan Street near Wylie Avenue. Both officers had apprehended some suspects and were walking them to the station when the prisoner pulled a gun and shot Officer Sheehy three times.
