On October 1, 2017, Sergeant First Class Charleston V. 'Chucky' Hartfield, a 34-year-old off-duty Las Vegas police officer and a member of the Nevada Army National Guard, lost his life in the devastating mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.
